The first game of the Division 2 season saw Kendall C start out against a newly-promoted Analog outfit. Kendall C had undergone a bit of a facelift in the off-season, with several of last years players either moving on or up the ranks. This meant a "fresh" new look to the starting 11 which took to the pitch in Wayland.

Deputizing in goal was Dean Regrut, with backline coverage provided by Craig, Keano, Curley, and Eamonn. Across the middle were Mike Tuttle, Dave Wee-bee, Julius and Seamus Dromey with Killer and Allan Sweeney charged with providing the necessary firepower upfront. The game got off to a quick start, with Analog passing the ball around with some precision, leading the Kendall defensive line-up on a merry dance at times. Dangerous balls were being whipped in low across the box, though the final touch from the Analog forwards was lacking. Obvious lack of match practice and unfamiliarity of the Kendall players was creating panic and disharmony the length of the pitch. However, despite their early dominance, Analog, a much niftier outfit than the team which had been relegated two seasons prior, were unable to press home their advantage and as the half progressed, Kendall started to find a bit of a rhythm. Indeed, Allan Sweeney was unlucky to chip past the opposing keeper when sent through with a high looping ball. Kiz, Matt, Pete, Finbarr, Victor and Todd were introduced to add some bite and spice to the line-up, and duly obliged. With half-time approaching, Analog were starting to gain more of an upperhand and the half-time whistle was roundly welcomed by most the Kendall C when it arrived.

Some calm words at half-time were necessary to steady the ship and confirm that despite the oppositions dominance of possession for most of the first half, the scoreline still read 0-0. A reinvigorated Kendall took to the field for the second half and started much brighter, Mike Tuttle and Droms killing themselves to get the ball rolling down the wings. Then, just when the storm appeared to have been weathered, disaster struck. A through ball by the Analog forward deflected off Curley, in turn wrong-footing the otherwise impenetrable Larson and allowed the Analog frontman to skip the ball over Dean and into the net. A cruel blow, and 10mins later, the anguish doubled. A high through ball wasn't dealt with by the Kendall rearguard, allowing the nippy Analog forward to race through on goal and slot home neatly beyond the outstretched arm of Deano in the Kendall goal. However, the Kendall refused to be beaten and continued to battle hard in the middle of the park, with Julius and Kiz driving the forwards on. Fifteen minutes from time, Sweeney, apparently a forward of some reputation, managed to put the ball wide of an open goal from 5 yards out following a fantastic cross by Tuttle down the right wing. Not to be outdone, or eternally shamed, Sweeney righted his wrong a few minutes later, slotting under the keeper from the left following a neat through ball. A frantic last few minutes ensued, but the referee's whistle came too early and the Kendall had to settle for a first game defeat. Plenty of positives from the second half performance, with the necessary Kendall battle evident in the latter stages. G'wan the Kendall!!!
