The Kendall started with 11 players, no subs until the second half. Ben and Nick were both playing for the Kendall for the first time.

A cold front blew in just before game time on this October afternoon. The beautiful, warm Autumn day turned dark, cold, and windy very quickly. So it was for the Kendall just after kickoff, as the opposition sliced through the Kendall C team, who barely got a touch on the ball before it was in its own net.

The second Harvard goal came about ten minutes later on another nice bit of passing in the midfield that led to an open shot inside the box.

But, the Kendall wasn’t out of it. Some great work by Jarrod, Sean, and Bobby up front created some pressure, and the flow of play began to stabilize. Finally, a breakthrough. A nice cross sent Bobby behind the defense and he put one in the back of the net. Kendall was back in the game with 15 minutes to go in the half.

A few minutes later, HM struck back. Two HM players ran onto a beautiful cross from the right midfielder. One got free and got a clean head onto the ball and knocked it over the Kendall keeper who was trying to cut off a low angle. It dipped just under the cross bar for goal number 3.

The second half started with Kendall facing the strong wind blowing in from the southwest. But no matter. Kendall got the next goal to make it 3-2. Bobby made a run up the left side, speeding past the defender, and got the ball across the face of the goal. Jarod and the Kendall midfielders kept up the pressure until finally Ben got a touch on the ball in front of the net and knocked it home.

Kendall controlled the run of play for the opening 15 minutes of the second half, but as the game wore on, the Kendall was forced to push forward in pursuit of the tying goal; tired legs were exposed. In the end, HM scored two goals on counter attacks to end the game 5-2.
