The Kendall C team had a tough outing in a Cup match against BCS at Moakley on Saturday April 28, 2012. The back line was without key players Michael Curley, Eamonn Fitzgerald, and Jay DiIorio; however, the defense was able to stop the constant barrage of attacking through balls. The defense was led by Brendon Bartely and Todd Radford in the middle and Mike Carolan and Mike Queenan on the right and left. Kendall played 5 across the midfield starting with Sean Kennedy, Seamus Dromey, Jarrod Burton, Dean Regrut, and Brendon Mulkern. Upfront was the loan runner Bobby Abendroth. Good minutes came from all the subs which included Gordie Smith, Ben Chamas, Ahmed Ali, Dave Weibe, and Norman Jimenez.

The keeper, Matt Wallace, was forced to come off his line early and often to stop the constant knifing through balls played by the opposition’s midfield. In one instance a player had a one on one with Matt. The striker dribbled left and then right and then tried to shoot one past Matt’s right side. He quickly collapsed to the ground to stop the ball in its tracks keeping the game nil all. In the last 15 minutes of the first half BCS got their first goal off a penalty kick called on a tackle in the box. Shortly after that a goal was scored on a brilliant a first touch shot by Kendall’s Mike Carolan late in the first half, but was called back by an inadvertent handball. The BCS’s got their second goal early in the second half when Brandon kicked the ball towards the goal box under pressure and Matt mis-played the ball with his feet allowing the opposition to score. The end result was 2-nll BCS. The game was very defensive for Kendall and they would benefit next game from better control so that they don’t continue to get killed by transition play from lost balls in the middle. When the opposition gets that many opportunities in the box, it is only a matter time before they find a weakness in the defensive armor. Kendall C’s will hope to get their first win of the season next week versus OHP Gunners in Waltham.
