Well the last week has been a huge disappointment for the Kendal B team. Following our shock league defeat midweek it was on to the cup on Saturday last. The game was played under scorching conditions which didn't really suit the paddies on the team. The opposition was Bukowski who are in the first division but you would not have thought as much in the first half.

We were by and large at full strength apart from the ever green mike Mac. However his commitment as captain has to come into question. Apparently his brother's wedding is more important than the Kendall's run in the cup. His position was filled by Noel who was caught for pace on a few occasions but overall played well. He is a lot sharper with the whistle in training I might add though...Also missing was Tyler who had no mosquito spray so decided not to play...There was me thinking he was hard...

The first half saw the Kendal come straight out of the blocks with some good attacking play which resulted in them racing into the lead. Some nice play from JK resulted in him sliding the ball through to RB who rounded the keeper and slide the ball home. The Kendal had numerous chances to increase the lead however some guilt edge chances were missed.

Not long after the goal Jk had to go off injured which was a huge loss. He was replaced by Johnny Crowley who battled hard up on his own. At the other end Ger kept us in it with some fine saves. He will be badly missed in the fall. However he would not have been pleased with his center half Andy as in "where the fuck have you been for the last month" when he called for the ball but didn't get there which nearly resulted in a goal.

At half time Joe Reagan made a great GAA speech but it didn't have the desired effect The second half saw Bukowski race into a 2-1 lead with two good goals. The first one was a great strike from the edge of the box leaving Ger with no chance. However the second one could have been prevented. RB was slow to react to get a block in which resulted in there mouth piece getting on the end of it to crash home a thunderbolt. In fairness Bukowski showed their class in the second half especially in midfield and showed the gap that exists between the divisions.

Overall the Kendall can be pleased with their showing and if they had converted some of their chances in the first half things could have been different. On the day there were many good performances to report especially Dave Power in midfield and Ger in goal

Kendall will now have to regroup for the second half of the season in the fall where hopefully we can push for promotion.

Off the field there have been rumors in the Irish emigrant that a member of the management could come under pressure to hold on to his job. There has been some player unrest in the camp especially with the harsh training techniques from the coach Coffey. We have all heard of player power in the past and a certain power on the team has been critical of the burpees incorporated into the training by Coffey. It might lead to the Mayfield man getting his way in the removal of Coffey. It will be interesting to see what develops over the next few weeks. Watch this space...
